My Grandfather, Poppop, used to call Brazil Nuts "african Toes"

It drove my mother nuts.

This was in the '60s...

So did my grandfather " Pop pop" - he always had a bowl of them in his house too :wtf: mixed with walnuts and almonds, along with surgical looking tools for crushing and picking the meats out.

My grandparents had an Asian housekeeper of some sort, female; can't excatly rememeber what flavor of Asian. She was married to a black guy and they had a kid. She must have given my grandparents a picture of the baby because one day I came across the picture of the half-black, half-asian kid while rooting around though a pile of stuff. I showed it to my grandmother and she gave this long sigh and shook her head and said, "I know, I know...what a tragedy, to bring a thing like that into this world."

My parents and grandparents never spoke ill of colored people. My elders were so genuinely certain of colored inferiority that they conveyed to us as kids a sense of pity towards coloreds. No animosity. Just pity. The sort of pity you feel towards retarded children.

My elders conveyed the idea that you should be especially kind to coloreds because they can't help what they are.

My grandpa had a joke back in the 80s when Pac-Man was in the news:

My grandpappy detained a bunch of jews and made them work for free during WWII. He referred to them as kykes. Then they made up a story that he gassed 6 million of them... all because he made them work for free and didn't feed them a whole lot. While I don't condone my grandpappy calling them kykes, they were a bunch of ingrates for making up that story

When I was 17 years old, I brought home a good looking Indian (dot) girl as a date. This was the early 90s. My parents were polite.

After she left, my parents said they didn't want me hanging around her. They told me that Indian people are conniving.

After 20 years of marriage, I think we've proved them wrong. And they finally did accept her, although not her family so much.

I dated an Indian chick once, she took me to her parents house and they had a swastika hanging over the door. I said "cool, your parents hate jews too?". I didn't know at the time the swastika was a Hindu symbol for thousands of years. That was the last time I saw her, she dumped me that night because of the jew remark...oh well, I fucked her a few times before that day, so it was cool.
