Wanted to pay cash for a car and the dealer wanted $500 more for the car

The last time I bought a car, I researched it on edmunds, knew what the option pricing was. I went in, they had a car I wanted and th price was a grand cheaper than edmunds reported. I thought it fair, didn't even haggle

bensa said:Sure, but if you play their game and let them string you along, it works out in the end. They will push the price lower and lower to get into lower payments. Just go along. Play their game till the end, then cut the check.

No big deal

and then they  at you and tell you to gtfo

If it was zero down for the price you wanted, why not. A few years ago it made sense to take the 0,, 1 or 2% financing. Buy a CD at 5% and make the bank give you money. Nowdays, interest rate at banks suck and you cannot pull that.

Nope. They want to play a fucking game. Game on. Fuck them.

Tell them you want to trade in your vehicle too. They will lowball the sales price of the new one in order to get your used car. When it comes time to seal the deal, tell them you are paying cash and they cannot have the used car.

It was either 0% financing OR a rebate of several grand. Either way good times...

You have some leverage if it's an unpopular model that's not moving. But they will not negotiate on the manufacturer give back. They also will get you back on parts and service.

Here's another trick. They will give you the price you want, the trade in value you want, the terms you want, everything you want and you will think you are kings of the wheeler dealers. You'll get home after showing everyone your new car and the next day will get a phone call from the dealership.Your financing didn't go through and they're going to have to re-work the contract and will need another $2K down. You'll go no way, give me my old car back. Well it'll already have been sold or auctioned off or crushed, you won't be getting it back.So you don't have a car. Most people will bend over and go for the new terms.

I have been looking for a new vehicle but cannot find one. No one makes a vehicle I like.

What I would really want is an updated version of a two door Tahoe, full size or a Ford Bronco, full sized. Or a Defender 90, that was brand new. Money is no object but they don't make cool vehicles anymore.

I really like that vehicle. A lot. Especially because of the head room. Too bad they don't make a 4Runner with a spartan interior like that. My wife has the Lexus chassis version of the new 4Runner. Excellent vehicle.

Agreed. Those types of manly vehicles have all been turned into over accessorized, blinged out grocery getters.

And smart people tell them to fuck off, keep the car and tell them to talk to your lawyer.

Motorcycle. Just go through the whole process and then get a payoff quote a month or two later. They'll love it.

 fuck them.

I did that with my apartment mortgage on my birthday. Walked in the door with the last $29k and they flipped out. The loans manager cunt came scuttling out of her office croaking angrily "YOU CAN'T DO THAT". Yes I can BITcH...I negotiated an open mortgage...

"OH NOES WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO THAT FER?"

No. Because everyone else has one in my neighborhood. The used ones are driven by black people.

Even Jeeps are gayed up. You cannot get the interiors or dashboard wet anymore. Pieces of shit.

May as well buy two of them. One to drive while the other is in the shop.

Dealers and financing companies have seen it all before and have contingency plans, so have fun in arbitration for the next six months while carless

Just pay them a fair price with a little profit and quit being such a tightwad. Car sales people have ADHD retarded, futureless kids to feed, too.

I wrote a personal check for a car, my current truck, new. At the dealer.

I never thought I would have something in common with the Bensa troll, but same here. Last two new cars paid for with a personal check.
