If you bought a car for 20,000, they'll get the kickback/bonus/credit because financing it over 4 years @ 6% (assuming avg credit) will mean you're paying 22,545 for the same car.
Why is that funny? Tires get stolen all the fucking time. Hell, when I was buying a car one time a brand new Accord came in on a flat bed truck with all four wheels gone.
There was a dealer recently that had $50k worth of tires stolen off the lot in one night.

I can remove a wheel lock with the right size 1/2 inch drive socket and ratchet.

Buy a beater and spend your money on something more worthwhile. Better still, send the balance to Newt Gingrich's campaign. We conservatives have to stick together.

I always pay cash at the dealer.
I arrange with my credit union for a loan before I go looking. I pick a car, do some research and come up with a price. Then I go back to the dealer and hand them piece of paper with the price and two check boxes (yes or no). I tell the salesperson that I do not want to have a discussion, take the paper to whoever and bring it back with just a check mark and nothing else. I also add, "I will wait five minutes and then I walk". I have bought four cars this way and would never do it any other way. I have walked twice, once because the sales manager came out and said "we don't do business that way", I said bye and left. The other time the sales manager had marked out my number and added $200, I walked.

A new budget Honda, Toyota, Subaru, or Mazda, under 20k gives the best value: fuel efficient, except for oil changes, brakes, and a timing belt change problem free driving until it hits 200k, low insurance rates, no one reasonable will steal it.
