Authorities say they won't file charges against an Oklahoma widow who fatally shot a New Year's Eve intruder at her house while she was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher.

Sarah McKinley, 18, asked a Grady County dispatcher for permission to shoot the intruder at her Blanchard mobile home.

"I've got two guns in my hand. Is it OK to shoot him if he comes in this door?" McKinley asked the dispatcher.

"Well, you have to do whatever you can do to protect yourself," the dispatcher is heard telling McKinley in the 911 tape released Wednesday. "I can't tell you that you can do that, but you have to do what you have to do to protect your baby."

McKinley's 3-month-old son was with her when she shot Justin Shane Martin, 24.

Oklahoma law allows the use of deadly force against intruders, and prosecutors said McKinley clearly acted in self-defense. According to court documents, Martin was holding a knife when he died.

"Our initial review of the case doesn't indicate she violated the law in any way," Assistant District Attorney James Walters told The Oklahoman newspaper.

Police released video footage online in the hope of catching a group of Philadelphia Flyers fans who beat up two New York Rangers fans outside a Philadelphia steakhouse following Monday's NHL Winter Classic game.

Three suspects wearing Flyers jerseys are seen repeatedly punching the two men in Rangers jerseys outside Geno's Steaks in the south of the city. Officials said the attack occurred around 7:15 p.m. local time.

One of the victims - later revealed to be an off-duty Woodbridge, N.J., police officer - was hospitalized following the attack and required stitches to close wounds, The Star-Ledger reported Thursday.

"He took a severe beating," Woodbridge township spokesman John Hagerty said, while refusing to name the officer. Local media identified him as Neil Auricchio Jr., the newspaper said.

Philadelphia police, who have appealed for help in identifying the attackers, refused to identify the victims but confirmed one was taken to the hospital and has since been released.

So, some confused, drunk guy, intruded into her yard. That's still know reason for her to kill him.

You're obviously about twelve years old judging from your post, so I'll keep this simple.

The two guys spent twenty minutes trying to break into her house. When they finally did, she shot one of them.

I didn't read this article but I read another one about this story and yes, they did come in the house. She was on the phone to the 911 operator and asked if she could shoot them on her property. Operator said you can't shoot them unless they come in the house, and then do what you have to do. So they broke through a door and she shot one with the shotgun, the other ran off.

what I find disturbing is that the press always go to such lengths to imply that a legal shoot in self defense is just a fly's whisker away from being an illegal shoot and that the defender barely got away with that one.

Probably California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, Oregon, Hawaii, and, though not a state, DC.

Nope, white. Here's some more facts for you. Her husband died of cancer on Christmas. The two attackers stalked her at the funeral and wanted to rape her, which is why they were breaking into the house.

Doubtful. He would have sued it.
