  I'm giving up on ebay
.

Every time I sell something it's a freaking disaster. I just sold an ipad and I get a shitty email demanding their money back. Now the stupid ass will start a dispute resolution which I will ignore.
Ahhhh

Ebay went to shit years ago.

What was their reason for wanting to be reimbursed?

eBay's awesome for buying shit from, I guess not so much for selling it.

Don't sell broken shit, start at $1, make a good ad with pics from all angles, tell them why you are selling, watch them bid the price up and overpay.

Look that's basically what I did. I just get sick of their buyer's remorse.

I want my money back!

They claim it's not as per description. Fuck it is. I don't know how the fucking thing has changed - the guy has had it for two days already.

Yeah it's fucking horrible now. My last transaction was an absolute nightmare.

Not only are people threatening sellers to lower prices or include other perks if they don't want a "dispute", they are now filing claims against sellers after they receive the item so they can get shit for free.

Fuck that. I'll use Craigslist from now on. Much less effective, but at least I don't have to deal with that ebay bullshit.

Ebay has completely destroyed the auction process. Completely.

It's one of 2 things basically.

1) because of their new buyer dick-suck policies, the basically attract morons who just bid on shit without reading descriptions or researching - because they know they can just file a dispute and get their money back without penalty.

2) The guy is trying to scam you because he knows he can send it to dispute resolution and "settle" for an even lower price which you will be bound to accept.

There is no possible way eBay can be making money on this new system. Sellers are fleeing in droves.

Were you selling the first generation and they were expecting the streamlined version?

This sounds about right. He's filed a dispute resolution. what happens now? I don't think Paypal or ebay have my credit card details (the money goes into my bank acc tho).

Tell him to fuck off, but be prepeared to lose your paypal & ebay account to sell shit if they decide against you. your paypal account will go negative and they may try to send you to collections.

Thanks Kirby. Yes - the acc has gone negative and I don't care as long as they can't pull money out of the account. He has completely exaggerated the claim.

Been selling for 12 years on tardbay. Last time I had a problem with a buyer over something I sold them was about 5 years ago. Mind you I take a shitload of pictures, painfully describe everything in detail, and most importantly I don't sell half-working or broken shit and then complain when it blows up in my face.

buying on the other hand, I've been fucked over quite frequently by jerkoffs. America is basically adopting russian or asian attitude where scamming is becoming ingrained in the blood. Paypal simply adopted a dispute attitude that mimics that of credit card issuers one too many chargebacks and they are out in the cold.

Well it sucks. I don't care about the account. I am a little worried they will be able to suck money out of bank account tho.

I didn't know about these new rules. Does anyone have a quick link where I can read what has changed?

They don't do that at all. If you're really worried close the account and transfer to a new bank account number. Say you're worried about your info and that you lost a few checks if needbe but ideally the bank won't give a damn.

Then if you want to sell again, prepaid credit cards.

its a culmination of a lot of little changes over the years.

basically, they want you to accept returns and take stuff back like a store. If you declare in your auction that you do not accept returns, the buyer can accuse you of a myriad of things in which paypal will usually take their side by default. the buyer can then return the item back to you in essentially any condition (or something even entirely different). with proof of receipt (shipping tracking) paypal will then refund their money and debit your account.

Thanks. Holy shit, I did not know that.
The last few things I've sold have been pick up only, paid in cash. I wouldn't sell anything I had to post or use paypal for knowing that.

Its draconian but like I said above, ebay hit a point where on the buyer's side dealing with a typical American seller is like dealing with a typical Russian.

I used to deal locally years ago but you'd be crazy to let anyone near your house, or risk getting jumped at a public meet up spot. Or even better, you go to the trouble of meeting a dipshit and they want to haggle in person because Donald Trump says everything is negotiable and "cash is king".

I can see the potential for that to happen but I've never had any trouble with it. Before eBay I used to buy and sell from ads in the local paper and that was fine as well.

U learned you have to use recorded delivery on everything, not regular mail or the buyer claims it never arrived and gets a refund.

People are such scum these days

Yep. Anything over $25, I insure it. Delivery confirmation isn't enough. I figure if they want to claim it is stolen, they can defraud the government while they're at it. Fucking bastards.

Sellers aren't going anywhere because there's nowhere for them to go. Craigslist is the only alternative and it's even worse.
