Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil has gotten a lot crappier in the last couple of years. What other products have been downgraded?

Next time you open a bag of chips, like, say for a football party or something - note the volume of the bag vs. the volume of the bag that the chips occupy.

. said:I ran out of aluminum foil yesterday; my last roll had lasted a couple of years.

This new roll, which I just opened, has foil that's thinner and a lot flimsier than the last roll. So, sometime in the last 2 years, Reynolds Wrap went from being a quality product -- a top name brand, too -- to being total shit.

What other brands have cheaped themselves out recently? It's a sad phenomenon.

You realize there are different options of tinfoil from Reynolds Wrap? You probably picked up a roll of the light duty and not the heavy duty rolls.

1) Nutter Butter Cookies - When the FDA required that Trans Fats go on the labelling, Nabisco removed them from Nutter Butters. That's when I realized that most of their great taste was derived from trans fats.

2) Many Bottled euro beers are now 11.2 ounces. They used the excuse that they wanted to standardize on 330 ml as in Europe. Fuck that, this is America. Give me my 12 ounce bottle.

3) My local pub has pint glasses that look normal. The other day I poured a 12 oz beer into one and it went right to the fucking rim! I've been getting ripped off by 4 ounces for years now! They achieve the allusion my making the glasses about a quarter inch less tall, slightly thicker bottoms (but not obviously so) and if you look closely the are almost cone shaped.

That's what I was going to say. The heavy duty stuff still kicks ass. Also, the thickness is on the label so you can compare across brands - same is true with trash bags. Always compare the thickness of trashbags.

Do you make up for it by shorting the bartender on his tips?

True. They used to be delicious. now they taste like quasi-peanut slabs of oil and chemicals.

I notice the sugar and the biscuit a lot more. The creaminess is largely gone.

I guess that is for the best, transfats are like toxic waste.

Transfats are what made your hair fall out, right?

chewy chips ahoy changed their recipe a few years ago and it's complete shit. The cookies are also much smaller than they used to be

I don't eat them, but if the package shows 0 trans fats on the label then this is probably what happened.

I used to LOVE that shit in the 70s when I was 10 years old or so.

When you'd open the can there'd be a quarter inch thick layer of orange beef fat. It was nice and rich chili.

These days, they keep the fat at only about 8 grams and it is largely unsaturated (not beef fat).

Fascinating what passes for reasoning on this here premium ebiz forum these days.

No, I am happy that I have an healthy alternative to that toxic sludge that the corporations market as peanut butter.

Alpo. Boy and I used to eat well from just one can of the stuff. Now we need two cans to feel as full, unless we've gone dumpster diving.

The back page of the coupon section in today's paper has an ad from Subway.

Look closely and you see a notation about the "30 oz. drinks" and picture of the cup.

Of course it used to be 32 oz.

The difference between 32 oz of soda and 30 oz is a tiny fraction of one penny. The big money-saving is in the smaller cup.

I doubt much saving for the cup either. Between the fountain soda and the cup they probably save 1 whole cent total, if that.

They must have got a new MBA who came up with the idea.
