In the second video where he performs, Medley, those goofballs in the audience have no idea that they are watching the hands of God play the guitar.
Leo was pure genius. Smoothest player ever!

And to think the kids today listen to Lady Gaga.
Kottke just goes to prove that the best music ever written and performed was written and performed by BOOMERS!

I recall seeing Kottke at the Cellar Door in D.C. back in 1974. Good times.

Remember seeing Kottke, Hon?
\
Sure do. You had quite the rock granite dick, then. Sigh.

Rodder, thanks for pointing this guy out. I'd never heard of him before.
When he plays, it sounds like a whole orchestra is coming from that single guitar. Pretty incredible.

Your welcome.
Let me see if I can find one of him playing Louise. As good as a guitar player that he was, he was an equally fine vocalist. Hold on.
Here you go.

I've never heard of this guy. Nonetheless, I have never ever seen such effortless guitar playing in my life. He makes it look so easy. He's quite remarkable.
Wonder why he never made it to the big time?

Well, you know the old story - you can be the best guitar player in the world, make all sorts of great records, have everyone in the business about to sign you to mega-millions in contracts, but get caught fucking one goat...

The only one, IMO, that has ever come to playing at the level of Leo is Nils Lofgren. Laugh all you want about his playing with Springsteen, but as a guitarist, he has few equals. Witness:

See if you can find any of his recordings from the late 70's early 80's.
Ab-so-lutely incredible.

In all truthfulness, this thread makes me sad. To see Kottke in his youth and then now is pretty heart wrenching. Getting old fucking sucks.

I'm absolutely loving you old tards talking about your times and music. Who else was good in the 70's?

You're trolling, right? Boomers didn't even write or perform the best music of the 20th century.
