Shouldn't be. Your face isn't anywhere near it. I don't think. Never tried it.

Good shotgun. Cumbersome magazines.

Mossberg is lighter. That also means it has a nastier felt recoil.

Can't be both.

Depends. I would reckon someone who buys a Maserati is overpaying. There's nothing special about a Maserati compared to, say, an original Shelby Cobra or something like that.

Some people need the ultra super duper precision and accuracy you get out of an Accuracy International rifle, like competitors, but for most it's expensive gratuitous self-indulgence.

SKS is great. Get a Butler Creek stock for it.

I prefer the Remington 870 shotgun. It's steel (many others are aluminum). But a lighter shotgun might be more sensible if you are carrying it around, so maybe a Mossberg 500.

You bet I would. Get his drivers license or no sale.

But here in California, we don't worry about that. Almost all transfers through an FFL.

I don't go to gun shows (SHOT Show is not a gun show, it's an industry trade show), but yes, the firearms business is booming.

What I have noticed is the ranges are fucking CROWDED these days. I go to the desert to shoot more and more.

They are churning out <mumble> hundred a month.

Really, they started shipping in late December.

This year's SHOT Show was the EIGHTH for me, as an exhibitor.

I have some mall ninja stuff:

This is kind of cool, but what's more cool is the shotgun we made it for. The talk of the town, these days:

It's really not a big deal.

Dudes use those in Three Gun competition with rings on their fingers with little release studs.

I used to compete with my GP-100.

Ruger makes good guns, reasonably (relatively reasonably) priced.

How hamstrung are you in California with firearms? Seems that you guys are fucked when it comes to buying almost anything fun.

We have found loopholes in the laws. I have two AR-15s three feet away from me and a Saiga 12. Another Saiga 12 in the ten day wait.

The laws here are chickenshit, but we can get around them for the most part.

You are going to pay $500 or more, unless you get something used.

Buy a revolver, a Ruger GP-100.

I wouldn't go around telling everyone I spent five times the right price for my firearms.

Those are niche consumer goods. Like Maseratis.

A good quality 1911 runs between $2k - $5k. A good quality rifle runs around $3K plus another $3K for a high quality scope.

You are getting those prices out of thin air.

I have a bunch of Chinese SKSes. I love the SKS.

Also, many gun nuts will avow that the Polytech M14s are superior to US-made equivalents such as the Springfield M1A. Unlike the latter, which has a cast receiver, the Polytechs are forged. US-made forged receiver M14s from LRB are hella expensive, but I have seen Polytechs for around $1,000.

They makes lots of guns, good ones. There has been a Chinese semi-auto import ban for 20 years, so that's a huge part of the market where they don't compete. The sell a handful of pump-action shotguns, clones of American made standards like Remington 870s and Winchester Model 97s.

I just bought a reciprocating saw today for $60. There's no way any hangun should cost more than that.

Again, try manufacturing something in the US and selling it (at retail) for $60.

My least expensive shell cozies, made of machined aluminum, retail for $60. And that's at a sub-40% gross margin.

Honest answer? Because there isn't a lot of Chinese competition.

Semi-auto pistols are not very difficult to manufacture, but a fine revolver sure is. Ironically, until recently revolvers were generally a lot less expensive than pistols. That's changing.
